Amy Reale, Psy.D.
Dr. Amy Reale is a clinical and school psychologist from the New York City area who lives and practices in Singapore with children, parents and families. She offers psychotherapy to children from birth to adolescence who struggle with problems such as anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, identity confusion, inattention, impulsivity, behavioral problems, trauma, and social and relationship difficulties. Children who are also having struggles with adjusting to major medical conditions; significant life, academic, or family stressors; or neurobiological conditions are also treated by Dr. Amy. In line with her research which continues to lead her to present worldwide, Dr. Amy specializes in the treatment of mothers and babies, who are having difficulty bonding, often as a result of peri-natal depression and anxiety. Dr. Amy conducts comprehensive psychological assessments with children to inquire about their learning style and disabilities; giftedness; social, emotional and personality features; inattention, impulsivity, & hyperactivity; development, and cognitive functioning; and executive functioning.
Dr. Amy tends to approach her work bearing in mind the child’s development and neurobiological processes, the family and larger social systems, and the child’s intrapsychic experiences. She typically uses a relational psychodynamic approach but applies cognitive, behavioural, or skills-based techniques when needed. Her advanced skills in nonverbal observational techniques uniquely contribute to her assessment and intervention abilities. Early childhood is her primary area of interest, but Dr. Amy greatly enjoys her varied caseload comprised of psychological testing, and individual, group, and family therapies. Collaborating with other professionals through consultation, trainings, and supervision is also of utmost importance to her. Dr. Amy completed her Doctoral and Master degrees from Pace University in New York, NY, USA, and her Bachelor degree (Major in Psychology, Minor in Dance) from Franklin & Marshall College in PA, USA.
