Dr. Saveen KangDr. Kang is registered with the Singapore Register of Psychologists (SRP) and Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). She also approved as a Supervisor by AHPRA. Dr. Kang holds professional memberships with the Australian Psychological Society (APS), APS Clinical College and Singapore Psychological Society (SPS).
Trained as a Clinical Psychologist, Dr. Kang has over 10 years of clinical experience working with children, adolescents and their families in addition to couples and adults. Her experience spans across areas of mental and physical health in a wide range of settings including hospitals, private practice, educational and corporate settings. Although Dr. Kang is trained to work with individuals of all ages, her specialized interests are related to working with children, adolescents, and their families. Dr. Kang has led a team of internationally trained allied health and psychological team. She was also the Head of the Psychology Department in an eminent child therapy centre and, was involved in setting a child and adolescent service for a multi-focused psychiatric clinic in Singapore. Through these roles, Dr. Kang served young children and adolescents by providing diagnostic clinical and psycho-educational assessments in addition to therapeutic interventions. Furthermore, her clinical professional experience extends to working in a psychiatric and general hospital in Singapore. Dr. Kang is trained in the use of a wide range of psychotherapeutic interventions: Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Brief Psychodynamic Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Family Systemic Therapy, Schema Therapy, DIR®/Floortime, Triple P Parenting and Solution-Focused Therapy. She takes an integrative approach in her clinical practice, firmly believing in developing a holistic understanding of her clients’ personal experiences and individualized treatment approaches. She also adopts a similar holistic approach in her psychological evaluations: where the child and their interactions in multiple contexts are explored by a multi-professional team. Information derived from the evaluations is then used develop intervention and/or identify school and home support that can be delivered by trained practitioners. Dr. Kang works closely with the international schools in Singapore and the surrounding region, as well as local schools under the purview of the Ministry of Education, Singapore. Dr. Kang is a firm believer that every young person has strengths which need to be acknowledged and cultivated in therapeutic intervention.
